If the pricing for a room you’ve booked is lowered after your purchase and your booking meets certain requirements, you can request to have those savings applied to your booking’s final payment. So, book early with confidence to ensure you get the best accommodation at the best price.

Just like with airline tickets and hotel room prices, VACAYA’s fares rise slightly as rooms fill up. So, the sooner you book, the more bang you’ll get for your buck. In the travel industry, this is called Dynamic Pricing.

What is Dynamic Pricing?

Dynamic Pricing is the practice of varying the price of a product to reflect changing market conditions, particularly the charging of a higher price at a time of greater demand.

Can you give me an example of Dynamic Pricing with VACAYA?

We can best illustrate this model using a standard Veranda Stateroom category. Let’s call this category “VS.” Category VS has 48 rooms. As the category inventory drops, the price of the remaining rooms in that category will rise slightly in a step-up fashion, broken down in four tiers of 12 rooms per tier. Each step-up price increase on the way to that category selling out could be anywhere from 10 USD (on a standard Interior room) to 150 USD or higher (with our suites), and there could be multiple step-ups from launch to the sell out of that category. Each vacation event will have its own formula based on the specific parameters of that trip.

Does this mean that a price might be higher for a lower category room?

Yes. With Dynamic Pricing, pricing is no longer linear from bottom to top of the room categories as you’ve come to know it. Over time, the last few rooms in a popular lower category could step up to be more expensive than a slower selling higher category. You will have full visibility on all categories’ current pricing as you make your selection.

In practical terms, what does this mean for me?

  • Applicable to vacation fares only. Port charges, resort fees, and gratuities are non-applicable.
  • Not applicable on “run of house” or “guaranteed” room rates or added value promotions.
  • When a “guarantee rate” is introduced (typically after final payment on a trip has been processed and we’re attempting to fill the last few unoccupied rooms), already-booked guests may not “downgrade” to the guarantee rate.

  • Savings rebates must be submitted before the final payment due date.
